JOHNNY STIMSON - "IDWLY" // SINGLE REVIEW

Pop singer-songwriter Johnny Stimson hoping to make waves in the music world. He has already garnered attention and support from superstar artists like Elton John and toured with Tori Kelly and SoMo. On IDWLY, Johnny digs deep into his feelings musing over a past love, and the realization he's trapped between his head and heart. Despite the song's serious subject matter, it's a fun and upbeat number. The use of subtle and simple narrative immediately captures the listener, something that is essential for a great Pop song. That combined with a bit of fun wordplay and his soulful and smoky vocal delivery, make for quite the enjoyable track. While musically the blend of bare-bones electro-pop, jazzy basslines, and subtle hints of R&B throughout make it a song that's a bit hard to place genre-wise but ultimately a dance-worthy tune.
