VIOLET DAYS // "INK" - SINGLE REVIEW

Violet Days is the artistic moniker of Swedish singer Lina Hansson she has just released her latest single Ink out on Virgin EMI. The song was co-produced with long-time collaborator Kris Eriksson. The song speaks on the ravages of a toxic relationship and breaking free from its damaging restraints. Violet Days uses strong heartbreakingly beautiful lyric imagery to evoke a somber feeling. The music and vocals remain complementary languages and do not overpower Lina's bright melodic range, which goes from breathy to a more assured tonality throughout the song. It's raw and honest feelings sung against barebones music setup, mostly piano in the beginning before transitioning to adding other instruments like acoustic guitar and drums. These are the specific tools employed to assist in the storytelling of Ink and Violet Days uses them aptly to get a somber message across. Stream Ink and watch the video below.
