INSIDE THE CAPITOL ROYALE WEEKEND KICKOFF PARTY...

Capitol Records held it's second annual Capitol Royale, a music and tech festival geared to bring together the music industry, creatives, and the tech field. This year's theme is "Music on the Move" and on Friday night the kickoff party for this year's event was held at Avalon Hollywood. It featured some of music's fiercest females at the Femme It Forward Showcase put on by Heather Lowery, VP of Talent & Touring at Live Nation Urban. The concert featured a fireside chat by Fletcher ("Undrunk" and "One Too Many"). As well as performances by up incomers, DeathbyRomy, Layton Greene, Maya B, and Phem. Also, DJ's Girl Make Beats who opened and kept the music flowing as guests trickled in. Many of these artists I have previously covered on The Reclusive Blogger. The showcase began with Fletcher, her and Amber chatted about feminism in the music industry, Fletcher's growth as an artist, and how to truly find one's voice as a woman in a typically male-dominated world, society, and workplace. Avalon Hollywood that night was filled with the music industry, tech industry, and creative professionals there to support a cause with Femme It Forward and all of the talented women artists performing that night.

DeathbyRomy was the first artist performing that night, she sang three songs from her "Love u – to Death" EP, "Problems", "Let Me Fall", and "Diamond Tears". Romy's vocals captured the attention of the audience immediately. I recently interviewed her at the Capitol Tower and you can check out that piece here.

Quality Control's Layton Greene was next and sung four tracks including the emotional hit "Blame On Me" which is off her debut EP, Tell Ya Story. Layton definitely got the crowd hype.

Maya B and her fantastic dancers were next. She performed three tracks including a favorite of mine "Dollar to a Diamond". That track is a real party starter and floor filler. I also got the chance to interview her which you can read here.

The night ended with Alternative Pop artist Phem (born Liv Marsico) she opened for Grandson on his recent tour and had a song ("dead yet") of hers placed on Euphoria which she played that night as well as one of my favorites "Sweater".
