THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER'S FAVORITE MUSIC ROUNDUP VOLUME SIX

Hey again! It's time for volume six of my music roundup the first one of 2020! As usual, I'm highlighting my favorite songs from the past week or so. Let's get into it!

1. Hayley Williams // “Simmer”

The debut solo track from Paramore lead singer Hayley Williams is a beautiful, and powerful track about dealing with difficult feelings at once, including anger and anxiety. By songs end, Hayley finds some solace in knowing that these feelings come and go, and some peace with something she’s struggled with, her femininity. The track is catchy, albeit dark and heavy. You can watch the video for “Simmer” below.

2. Ami Cheon // “Good Good

Pop Singer-Songwriter Ami Cheon's new single is full of R&B flourishes amongst the electro-pop instrumentation. Yet the emotional heart of the song is about getting back to where love flows in a relationship. To reconnect after circling the drain for some time. You can check out Ami’s soulful track “Good Good” below.

3. Chaz Cardigan // “Not OK!”

The newly signed artist (just signed to Capitol Records/Loud Robot) on his inexplicably catchy debut uses the song to celebrate the human imperfections we all have. Watch as Chaz Cardigan stares down his imperfections in the hilariously cheeky video below.

4. Richard Walters // “Kintsugi

Kintsugi” is the heartfelt and contemplative new single from Oxford Singer-Songwriter Richard Walters. The single also borrows echoes of folksy melodies of 60s singer-songwriters and the lo-fi 90s melancholy of Brit Rock. The song takes inspiration and name from the Japanese art in which you repair broken pottery with lacquer. The artist says the song is a metaphor for his relationship with his wife and a newfound sense of creativity. You can listen to “Kintsugi” below.

5. Elephant Stone // "We Cry For Harmonia"

This atmospheric lo-fi rock number will have you bopping your head in no time. The use of spacey synths will have you hearing echoes of 70s Prog Rock before de-escalating into a loud crescendo of drums and bongos.

6. Uppermost // “Firestarter

This bombastic high-energy electronic dance track mixes a lot of powerful bass and quick-hitting synths with edgy guitars to create a fun fusion of EDM and Rock. This artist is one to watch for. Check out this innovative jam below!

7. DeathbyRomy // “Let Me Fall

Speaking of artists you should be paying attention to. Capitol’s DeathbyRomy dropped a new video from her “Love u – to Death” EP. “Let Me Fall” is one of my favorites off the EP, and the music video for it continues to set the tone for her as a new artist with a set aesthetic. You can view it for yourself below.

Okay, so that's it for this week. I hope you enjoyed these songs and music videos!

Until then,
