OSCAR JEROME ANNOUNCES DEBUT ALBUM “BREATHE DEEP”

Jerome’s new single “Your Saint” is out now

South London’s Oscar Jerome has announced his greatly anticipated debut album “Breathe Deep”. Set for a July 10th release date via Caroline International. “Breathe Deep” will highlight Jerome’s signature style and essence, and his growth as a Jazz artist. This album will also play host to a pool of collaborations. Oscar brings in singer Lianne La Havas and fellow bandmates from his Afrobeat group Kokoroko to name a few. The jazz artist is a staple in London’s underground jazz scene. Having worked with such artists as Moses Boyd and Yussef Dayes, even touring with jazz maestro Kamasi Washington.

“‘Breathe Deep’ is a pretty broad presentation of who I am musically and my journey to get to this point. On a personal level, it’s a reflection of the effort put in during that path of self-bettering, both emotionally and in life more broadly. It’s about preparing oneself for failure and growing from that. Taking a moment to step back and see where things are going and where one has been. It also addresses the resilience of people, which is reflected in the more political moments on the album. The world is a messed up place but people still find ways of preparing themselves for it.”

The albums lead single “Your Saint” is out now. It’s a song that came to fruition in Paris. Oscar had seen homeless Syrian refugee families living in the cold, and in overcrowded metro stations. The probing statement track features percussion from his Kokoroko bandmates. As well as a stark spoken-word piece from Sierra Leonean rapper/poet Brother Portrait. An animated music video for the song also dropped and is courtesy of artist Zach Bottoni. You can listen to the song here and view the music video below.
