SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL UNVEILS PLANS FOR 2021 DIGITAL FESTIVAL

UTAH’S SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL GOES (MOSTLY) DIGITAL FOR 2021

The Sundance Institute announced its plans for the 2021 festival. Its Sundance Film Festival normally held in Utah will now take place in a mostly digital format. Alongside, there will be drive-ins, independent arthouse showings, etc that showcase the films as well. during the shortened seven-day festival. Official dates for the festival are January 28 to February 3 of next year. Finding a way for Sundance to exist during COVID-19 sees the festival in a new chapter for 2021. Through careful planning the institute hopes the essence, spirit and brilliance of festival is alive and well in this format. This truly is an online collaborative experience between artists, films, and fans.

“Our Festival footprint has changed this year, but we are excited to bring an incredible community together in new ways to engage with new artists and new stories -- whether they’re joining us for the first year or have been for decades,” said Sundance Institute Executive Director Keri Putnam. “Our ambition is for everyone to come together, safely, wherever they may be, and participate in screenings on our platform at the same time. The Sundance team has consulted with artists, worked with incredible partners, and built a plan to welcome new audiences and capture a true Festival spirit.”
