Violet Days is artistic moniker of Swedish Pop Singer-Songwriter Lina Hansson. Her latest EPLovers and Losers is out now on Virgin EMI and we chatted about the creative and recording process behind it and music in general. You can check it all out below then stream the EP afterward.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: So are you more of a Morning Bird or a Night Owl?

VIOLET DAYS: 1000% night owl. I love staying up late and sleeping in the mornings.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Let’s talk about the recording and creative process for your EP, “Lovers and Losers”?

VIOLET DAYS: It took about a year to create and finish, we wrote half of it in LA and half in Sweden. I had a pretty emotional year for different reasons so writing this EP has been very therapeutic for me.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: What was the hardest song for you to write and pull together off “Lovers and Lovers”?

VIOLET DAYS: “Afterparty” and “Lovers or Losers” definitely took the longest time to finish. We did a lot of different versions on those songs before we were satisfied. It’s so hard to know sometimes when you think a song is 100% finished, but I’m super happy with the result and that we finally got there.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Can we talk a bit about the emotional and beautiful first single “INK”?

VIOLET DAYS: That one went pretty fast to write since I really needed to tell that story. It was hard though, emotionally. It’s the most personal single I ever wrote but it’s probably my personal favourite as well. It’s about friendship and letting yourself down because of someone else’s influence over you.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Is there a lyric off the EP that you feel most emotionally connected in life at present moment?

VIOLET DAYS: “INK” and “Afterparty”. I tend to end up in those emotions this time of the year.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: If you could collaborate with any artist past or present who would you collab with and why?

VIOLET DAYS: Chris Martin of Coldplay. I admire him so much. I feel like he’s a grown up that never stopped being a child. There’s magic around him and in his music and I wish to one day be in the presence of that.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Throwing in a fun one here… If you could write a song based off any book or comic book what book would choose and what type of song would it be?

VIOLET DAYS: Oh, “Alice in wonderland”! I love that world and it would probably be a whimsical sounding dark/pop song.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Are there any artists that have been “On Repeat” for you lately? What music have you been digging?

VIOLET DAYS: On my Spotify playlist “Violet days loves..” on Spotify I put everything I love and listen to at the moment. I like what Charlotte Lawrence have been releasing lately, another fellow Swede that is killing it right now is Boy In Space. Oh and I’ve been obsessed by JP Saxe after hearing him live in LA last year. Tame Impala is always a go-to.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: And what’s next for Violet Days?

VIOLET DAYS: I’m really excited to create new music now and experiment more with the sound. Gonna spend a few months in LA in the beginning of the year and then some shows coming up.

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: Anything else you would like to add? Thank you for your time Lina

VIOLET DAYS: Happy holidays!! And don’t forget to listen and follow on Spotify for updates 😉
