Hey Violet (Singer Rena Lovelis, her sister and drummer Nia Lovelis, Lead Guitarist Casey Moreta, and Bassist Iain Shipp), the four piece Alternative Pop band is back with a fun new single titled “Better By Myself”. It’s the first release from the band since their 2017 debut album “From The Outside”. The song is a catchy, and groovy pop rock number featuring a hooky sing along style chorus. The subject matter of relationships and freedom is albeit nothing new but very relatable, makes “Better By Myself” perfect for Pop radio. ‘Claudia‘ is the uber funky new single from musician and singer-songwriter FINNEAS (aka Finneas O’Connell). FINNEAS who you might recognize as Brother and main collaborator to Pop singer Billie Eilish (Ocean Eyes and Bury A Friend). On the song ‘Claudia‘, FINNEAS showcases his talent not only as a songwriter but as a solo artist. The track written about his girlfriend, YouTuber Claudia Sulewski is a song that’s full of vulnerability, honesty, and passion. A flirty and playful song, with heartfelt lyrics that’s all wrapped up in a fun, easygoing groovy pop bop, that’s as perfect to dance to as it is to vibe out to. You can listen to ‘Claudia‘ below plus learn more on FINNEAS in the links below!
Today I bring you nicopop. He’s a rising Pop producer and his new track “Below The Ceiling” is a must listen. It’s a smooth Electro-Pop number combining both elements of older-school electronic music and new school. Or as the artist puts it himself “y2k meets Gen Z”.
From the opening notes where we hear liquid being poured. I assume bubbly since it’s mentioned in the lyrics. I can tell this track is going to be a feel good and fun dance track. With a good dash of effervescent sexiness thrown in for good measure. The singers’ vocals bounce along the slick pop production with plenty of flirty advances for lyrics. All coming together to make a neat and quite fun electro-pop bop perfect for the dance floor. These are my five favorite songs from the week of October 8th …
1. IF YOU SEE HER BY LANY
A song off of Malibu Nights, Lany’s latest release that tells a story of heartbreak and loss of love. This song doesn’t fall off that topic matching the overall theme of the album. I personally have been obsessed with this song as it reminds me so much of old LANY giving a fun upbeat type of vibe while hitting at a loss of love topic. LANY’s song “The Breakup” is quite similar in this sense. The upbeat pop song describes a breakup while still give you a beat you can dance along to. Make sure to catch the synth-pop band on their upcoming fall/winter tours!
2. LILO BY THE JAPANESE HOUSE
A new single released by the solo female artist who was one of the first to be signed to Matty Healy’s (The 1975) indie record label Dirty Hit. The musician titled “The Japanese House” always produces consistent sounds with what usually has a melodic guitar riff following drum tracks but this song veered off a bit not including as much if any, guitar. As much as that aspect is always killer in her songs, this song is no slack and I always feel like when I listen to her music I can escape the world for the 4 minutes she produces.
3. FEELING LONELY BY BOY PABLO
The guitar riff in this song has got to be one my favorites right now. Boy Pablo is a mixture of a Rex Orange County with a little more of that upbeat vibe to them. As someone who has seen the band live as well, I can tell you that the bands’ energy on tracks doesn’t lack in performance either. The band gives off such a good vibe along with their music that it is hard to not enjoy what they produce.
4. PARADISE BY THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
If there is one thing I love about The Neighbourhood, it has to be how active they are in the scene even after years of producing amazing yet consistent music. This song matches their aesthetic and what they typically produce identically. The band has a melancholy type of reverb on Jesse’s voice but the way he mixes up the reverbs to give you a little throw off to what you think you’re going to hear is so unique in their sound. Paradise is the most eccentric blend of sounds not only in vocal but also in instrumental giving a sound such as old The 1975 but with their own flare.
5. GENERATIONS WHY BY CONAN GRAY
Conan Gray has to be one of my favorite indie artists right now and when I say indie, I mean indie. Conan had recorded almost all of his songs on his own in his bedroom but that’s what I believe gives him an extremely unique feel. It’s almost as if you’re sitting in that room with Conan as he sings the song through the recording. It’s just so personal and relatable to your life, it’s like he’s singing about the childhood you’ve lived and you can relate to. This song keeps that same vibe as songs he’s written such as Idle Town (totally recommend that too!) Catch Conan on his first ever tour starting this November! (I’ll be at that New York date).
