Hey Violet (Singer Rena Lovelis, her sister and drummer Nia Lovelis, Lead Guitarist Casey Moreta, and Bassist Iain Shipp), the four piece Alternative Pop band is back with a fun new single titled “Better By Myself”. It’s the first release from the band since their 2017 debut album “From The Outside”. The song is a catchy, and groovy pop rock number featuring a hooky sing along style chorus. The subject matter of relationships and freedom is albeit nothing new but very relatable, makes “Better By Myself” perfect for Pop radio. Claudia‘ is the uber funky new single from musician and singer-songwriter FINNEAS (aka Finneas O’Connell). FINNEAS who you might recognize as Brother and main collaborator to Pop singer Billie Eilish (Ocean Eyes and Bury A Friend). On the song ‘Claudia‘, FINNEAS showcases his talent not only as a songwriter but as a solo artist. The track written about his girlfriend, YouTuber Claudia Sulewski is a song that’s full of vulnerability, honesty, and passion. A flirty and playful song, with heartfelt lyrics that’s all wrapped up in a fun, easygoing groovy pop bop, that’s as perfect to dance to as it is to vibe out to. You can listen to ‘Claudia‘ below plus learn more on FINNEAS in the links below!

I got a chance to interview Southern California Punk Band WANK recently. I talked with frontman Bobby Amodeo on music, Foo Fighters, and the future of WANK

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: I always start out with an easy and quick question. An icebreaker … So CD or Vinyl?

WANK: VINYL

THE RECLUSIVE BLOGGER: And for my readers who don’t know who is WANK and how did you guys come to be?

WANK: We’re the unsigned rock band that KROQ in LA added to rotation. We are the band that Mike Ness of Social Distortion and Chris Shiflett of Foo Fighter produced. Check us out.

TRB: Can you tell us about the first song you guys wrote together as band?

WANK: Fearless from Get a Grip – Generation X meets The Boss.

TRB: What musicians have you guys admired or learned from over the years?

WANK: I’d have to say Mike Ness, Joe Strummer, The Beatles and Elvis Costello. Yes they’re all legendary but they all brought the tunes and lasting stage presence.

TRB: Can you tell me more about your bands’ typical creative, recording and writing process and what goes on behind that?

WANK: Danny presents an idea, we refine it and arrange it as a band, we take it to the studio and track it with a producer.

TRB: Speaking of that … Let’s talk about your new single “Salvation” which was produced by Foo FightersChris Shiflett. What was it like working with him?

WANK: Awesome!

TRB: How do you think he added to the track?

WANK: Chris was a blast to work with. He came in very focused – his vision elevated our tune on all levels.

TRB: Here’s a fun one … What’s your favorite Foo Fighters track?

WANK: That’s a hard one! So many great songs but if I had to pick one I’d say LEARN TO FLY.

TRB: Are there any current artists that have been “On Repeat” for you guys lately? What music have you been digging?

WANK: Been really digging THE INTERRUPTERS as of late. Great style and cool tunes.

TRB: And what’s next for WANK?

WANK: We have a full length coming out this December which we’re stoked about! Really our plans involve lots of gigging and getting our new music heard.

TRB: Anything else you would like to add?

WANK: Thank you.

Until then,

Hey, guys! I’m back with the final round up of Arroyo Seco Weekend. Yesterday (Sunday, June 24th) I headed back out for round two with hopes of seeing as many bands as possible. But first on my schedule was an interview with Lisa Coleman (Keyboards/Piano) of The Revolution. We had a very quick chat after their set at the Sycamore stage and a quick photo. The interview will be posted later!

The entire day was quite the adventure as a whole. As my plus one and I ended up getting turned around upon arrival. Some super nice security people and workers at the festival helped us get back where we needed to be. We ended up getting a free trip on a golf cart in the process. By happenstance, I met Alanis Morrisette‘s shoe designer and artist in line. He liked my Neon Converse so he gave me a very quick peek of the shoes he designed for her. Alanis wore the shoes at her set that evening onstage at The Oaks. Which I thought was cool.

So I ended up seeing The Revolution, Alanis Morrisette, the tail end of The Bangles, and the set I was most looking forward to seeing the entire weekend, Gary Clark Jr He is a favorite artist of mine. It was such a treat to finally see him live. The guitar skills and vocals on point. His band just as exceptional as him. I was headbanging, rocking out and just all around getting down the entire show. By then I was tired, not used to festivals and felt it was time to say bye to Arroyo Seco Weekend. It was very fun and reminded me how much I live for and love live music, so thank you.

Hey, guys it’s Brittney here! You know what else is here? That’s right the second inuaguaral Arroyo Seco Weekend in Pasadena, CA. The music and arts festival which is billed as a fun also family friendly music filled weekend. It’s definitely is that.

👆🏾👆🏾 My Photography above!! 👆🏾👆🏾

I arrived very early hoping to a quick lay of land and scope out the media tent. Which wasn’t hard to do considering it was all right by the box office. Most of today’s adventures were prep for tomorrow where I have a much Fuller schedule. But today I decided to check out a few of Arroyo Seco’s other offerings. I stopped by the Visit Pasadena tent and did a Instagram post in exchange for a parasol which is much needed and in demand in the Pasadena heat. They also gave out super cute bandanas which were personalized with our initials. After that I realized it was 1:00pm and I had a band I needed to see. So I dropped by the Willow stage and was pleasantly surprised by the unique stylings of ‘Typhoon‘ a super groovy and hard rocking band from Salem, Oregon. The addition of a female violinist and background singer I thought was cool. The crowd was loving it too and ‘Typhoon’ ended up packing the Willow Stage. Definitely my fave today (mind you I did not stay the entire time). Although my partner in crime, my Mom loved the first band we checked out and Arroyo Seco opener, “Maxim Ludwig“. I also got a chance to come heck out the Glasshouse record store which housed a ton of cool, new and rare vinyl including tons from the Arroyo Seco artists. I made two purchases, Joy Division and Ryan Adams. I say a job well done. All in all today was for me to gain my bearings, check out the site, look at some of the activations. Some working better than others. Tomorrow I have a much fuller day (way too many artists to see!) so that means a much bigger recap! Maybe even a few surprises …
