The guys of ‘Sunset Sons’ are back with a new one!

Hey, guys, I wanted to talk to you about another song from the band ‘Sunset Sons’ and that is ‘Love Lights’. Both tracks are from their upcoming EP, ‘The River’ which you should definitely check out when it’s released (all the info is below). But today I wanted to focus on the aforementioned song ‘Love Lights’. Yes, this is a band I’ve just gotten into after hearing the track ‘Running Man’ A song which had elements of surf rock and early Kings Of Leon. I thought I had their sound. But no, Sunset Sons has managed to do a complete 360° on ‘Love Lights’, creating a fun gem of an Alterna-Pop song. Featuring lots of bouncy rhythms, chanting choruses, even a few R&B nods here and there, plus a lot more electronic influences. But the growling tones in the singers’ vocals is one of the things that stays strong and evident throughout the song. Driving home the songs central theme, Love. It’s distinct and evident. It’s something that makes Sunset Sons not only relatable but stand out and most notably in this song.

‘The River’ EP is due out this July 27th on LAB Records.

Hey, guys this will be a quick one! But I just wanted to talk to you about new song I’m digging and just playlisted, It’s by Sunset Sons and it’s called“Running Man”. It’s the first track off their upcoming EP “River” which is due out July 6. The EP will be produced by Catherine Marks (The Big Moon, Foals).

The song starts out with a quite jovial rymthm with jangly guitars, tambourines and earthy drums until the lead singers vocals kick in. The band, consisting of Rory Williams (Lead Vocals, Keys), Jed Laidlaw (Drums) and Pete Harper (Bass) all hail from the U.K. and Australia are described as a surf indie rock group. But in this track I can hear faint echoes of Mumford and Sons, Kings Of Leon and Of Monsters and Men just as much as artists like The Beach Boys. The lyrics are pleading, freeing and quite beautiful. All take on a frenzied place as the track progresses in a fun almost stomp along rollicking manner. My favorite part is the refrain “How long will I be a running man?”
