To kick off June and Pride month, we get a reimagining of a Disco classic from an unlikely pair. The song, MacArthur Park, sees former Glee star and Laurence Olivier Award winner Amber Riley team up with rising pop artist Micah McLaurin to craft a fresh take on the Pride standard. The song was written by Grammy-winner Jimmy Webb in 1969 and subsequently covered by many, including country star Waylon Jennings (for which he won a Grammy), Tony Bennett, and even the Pet Shop Boys. But it became a number-one hit under the Disco queen Donna Summer, which solidified its history as a pop standard.

“I love the song and I thought it would be a fun collaboration moving into the summer,” shares Amber Riley on the single. “Not to mention, Micah’s arrangement is absolutely beautiful, adding a new flare to what is already a classic. I couldn't say no!”Although, this updated cover brings together what might seem like an unlikely duo of Riley and McLaurin.

But their unique fusion of soul and glossy pop creates magic sprinkled like glitter on this version. The reimagining of this iconic tune not only highlights the strength and beauty of Amber’s vocals, anchored by Micah’s piano and melodic choices. The cover is an elevated and glittering nod to the Disco version, only amplifying timeless songwriting through the expansive emotional detail that the Disco Age brought forth.
