KATY PERRY // "NEVER REALLY OVER" - SINGLE REVIEW
Pop Mega Star Katy Perry is back with her first single and new material since 2017. The track “Never Really Over” (which she first premiered at an exclusive fan event at the Youtube Space, which I attended) was produced by Zedd and Dreamlab. 'Never Really Over' is a sugary and fun Electro-pop number that is radio ready. Featuring plenty of catchy sing-along lyrics about relationships and love. Specifically, Katy says, “All of our relationships - from first love, through failed love, to great love - all become a part of you, so that none are ever really over, and once you accept both the dark and the light, you may find that the darkness brought you to the light.” This is certainly one subject she has found a home in writing about over her past ten plus years at Capitol Records. The accompanying video for “Never Really Over” features Katy’s signature of bold highly saturated colors, fun dancing, and quirky overtones. The hippie inspired clip was directed by Philippa Price (St. Vincent, BANKS) and shot in Malibu, California.
