MAGDALENA BAY’S NEW EP “A LITTLE RHYTHM AND A WICKED FEELING” IS A FUN DANCE FLOOR TREAT

THE POP DUO HONE IN ON A NICHE SOUND WITH “A LITTLE RHYTHM AND A WICKED FEELING”

Los Angeles based duo Magdalena Bay’s brand of Hyper-pop comes alive on their new EP, “A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling”. The duo comprised of Mica Tenenbaum (singer/songwriter) and Matthew Lewin (producer/songwriter) whose love of nostalgia, the offbeat cinema of the eighties, and glitzy pop stars, spurned the band. They have been making music every since high school, creating their own uber catchy niche sound.

Magdalena Bay feel so perfect for this generation, one caught in two worlds. Yes the world is in complete shambles and we need to fix it, but I still want to have fun. Just dance our fears away... if just for a night. The addictive guilty pleasure pop they churn out effortlessly, blends 80s neon nostalgia with saccharine sweet bubblegum pop. Alas, its not that surprising to hear that some of the artists that Mica and Matthew list as major influences are Carly Rae Jepsen (“Call Me Maybe”), and Pop Chameleon Charli XCX (“I Love It”, “Boys”).

In a place where finding the right niche and cultivating a loyal fan base is everything. Magdalena Bay triumphs due to their carefully defined and paradoxical sound. Where their lyrics are at once vulnerable, honest, introspective, trippy and dark, mischievous, and upbeat creating a whimsical and euphoric EP. “A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling” is the duos small way of trying to understand and relate to this crazy unknown world which we live. “A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling” is overall a fast paced record that emulates our digital world. As Mica devilishly coos the lyrics you’re unsure of where you’re going, but at least you’ll have fun playing this on the way there.
